Here at Baker Roofing Company we love our interns! We are lucky enough to be able to get to know 10 great interns in our Raleigh and Charlotte branches this Summer. From Recruiting, learning company history, and even some roofing and project management skills, our interns have had a busy Summer! We have enjoyed getting to know them, and think you will too – read below for some information they have shared with us.

What have you learned from your internship at Baker?
“This summer, I have learned how crucial it is to proactively recruit the best candidates for our positions at Baker in order to ensure we have the best employees in the industry. I have also learned important job skills that I will continue to use through my working career such as conducting professional phone calls, emails, dress, and meetings. My internship at Baker really opened up my eyes to how much hard work and dedication it takes to run a major company.” – Brooke
“This summer I have learned a variety of things about roofing such as the assortment of insulations, membranes, and deck type, but I have also learned something more sentimental. Hard work can get you where you want to go. I have learned if you come into work, show that you want to be here, and have a will to get better, you will prosper in this company.” – Cameron
“I have learned SO much so far this summer. By getting to work in multiple different departments within accounting, I have been able to see all aspects of how this company runs. From payroll, to paying different vendors, to receiving money from completed jobs, I have received more hands-on experience this summer than I could have imagined.” – Emma
“It has only been a week for me, but I have already learned about the entire process of roofing, from the estimate of the project to the actual construction of the roof. What stood out the most, is how complex each and every individual roof can be, that was an eye-opener. Additionally, I have been informed of many new roofing terms such as taper and cricket to name a couple.” - Connor
“I have learned how the logistics of an office work, and how important each person’s job is to the other. A little bit of talking to customers over the phone, which has helped me understand customer service to an extent.” – Jewel
“Working at Baker has enabled me to learn how to better communicate with a diverse group of people. Baker Roofing has also taught me the importance of a balanced life through the promotion of healthy living and hard work.” – Tilson
Why did you choose Baker Roofing for a summer internship?
“ I chose to intern at Baker because my mom has been here for 18 years and she said it’s a wonderful company and a great working environment.” – Elizabeth
“I chose Baker Roofing because of the very versatile experience it would provide for me. Since I am not sure exactly what I want to do yet in the future, it seemed like the best fit for me to be able to get experience getting to do a bunch of different things within the accounting department. I also was very excited to find an internship for an incredible company in Raleigh, so that I could spend time with my family on the weekends.” – Emma
“I chose Baker for a summer internship because it was offered to me as a new opportunity, and it was my first job the previous summer and I enjoyed it.” – Jewel
“I choose the Baker Internship as it was the internship that would allow me to be exposed to various different aspects of business. I want to experience the most that I can to gain a better understanding of what I want to pursue after graduation. “ – Matthew
“I chose Baker for my internship because I liked the work environment. When I interviewed here, I was able to get a glimpse of how nice everyone was and how much the company cares about the employees that work here. I also wanted to get real world experience. “ – Taylor
What has been your favorite part about interning at Baker Roofing this summer?
“ My favorite part has been meeting and building relationships with my department. Our department works together as a team to ensure the best job is done. Everyone is always very encouraging and has a positive attitude about their line of work.” – Brooke
“It honestly is hard trying to pick my favorite part about being an intern at Baker Roofing. If I had to narrow it down it would the people that I work with, these employees are the most helpful people you will ever meet. It seemed like every time I had a question about something or a problem turning in paper work, one of them was right there to walk me through the process.” – Cameron
“My favorite part about this internship is helping different departments and meeting new people.” – Elizabeth
“My favorite part thus far has to be the culture and atmosphere here. Everyone, since my first day has been very kind, welcoming and supportive. Despite the short period of time I have been here, it is obvious that those in charge of Baker Roofing care about the well-being of their employees evident by the positive work place atmosphere that has been cultivated.” - Connor
“My favorite part about interning with Baker has been working with different people in the office and in the field. Everyone at Baker is dedicated and passionate about their work, and they want to share their passion with me. They truly want to help me experience the most that I can.” – Matthew
“My favorite part about Baker Roofing is “puppy Friday.” I enjoy being able to see co-worker’s dogs while I work. It is also nice to take a break to love on a puppy. I also really like the work environment. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I also enjoy the access to a gym and being able to bond with my co-workers by exercising.” – Taylor
