Frequently Asked
Questions

How long do asphalt shingles last?

The life of an asphalt shingle roof is typically 15-25 years depending on climate and weather over time. It’s always a good idea to have someone come out and do a well-check on your existing roof if you see discoloration, missing shingles, or are experiencing leaks. Here are some photo examples of things you can look out for as you are evaluating if you need a repair or re-roof.

Architectural vs Three Tab Shingles

Which is best? Architectural or three-tab shingles? This is one of our most frequently asked questions! We have spoken to our team across the SouthEast to get their input on why they prefer one over the other. In short, we prefer Architectural. We want to be thorough and provide some more information about why we feel that way so we made a full blog post about it.

How long does it take to install asphalt shingles?

There are a lot of factors that can go into installing asphalt shingles. The weather is typically the most limiting, this can be rain or anything below freezing. The other factor in the timelines of an asphalt shingle install is the number of squares and details, which refers to the size of your roof. Installing an asphalt shingle roof can take anywhere from 1 -5 days. Our average roofing project takes 2 days typically.

What can damage asphalt shingles?

One of our favorite things about asphalt shingles is their durability in most climates. With that said, severe weather and storms can cause damage over time by loosening the granules on your shingles or pulling them up or off their line. We have a HAAG-certified team that can assess the damage and works with your insurance adjuster if this kind of damage has occurred.

What goes under asphalt shingles?

We believe that what goes under your asphalt shingles is just as important as the shingle installation itself. We install the shingles in an offset pattern to insure a watertight lock and prevent future leaks.
