The Salvation Army of Wake County has been serving the community since 1887. Not only in direct charitable giving, Baker roofing employees also participate in fundraiser events for the Salvation Army during the work week and after hours. The Salvation Army is most recognized for their presence every Christmas, ringing the bell at participating stores to raise money. Every Christmas, Baker Roofing donates their employees as volunteers during work hours to help ring the bell and collect donations to be given to those in need.
Every year, Baker Roofing employees take part in a Boys & Girls Club Annual Campaign. Through this fundraiser, our company is able to raise thousands to help the underserved children in Wake County through an organization that has proven itself decade after decade to be one of the most effective in reaching the youth of our community.
Baker Roofing Company support the charitable organization, Jobs for Life. This organization works to equip individuals through the distribution of biblically-based tools and materials to prepare for work and life. Jobs for Life (JfL)J training classes teach timeless biblical principles concerning work and the ways those principles are applied in the marketplace. Through this training, men and women develop character and become connected to a community of support to help them obtain far more than just a job.
In early May 2012 and as Habitat for Humanity of Wake County was gearing up for its fifth Home Builders Blitz, the organization’s board of directors turned to Baker Roofing and other leaders in the local construction community for support. Baker’s commitment to “always good work” is evident in its passion for giving back to the community, and the management team eagerly agreed to donate labor and materials. “At Baker, we are committed to giving back to organizations that support and strengthen our community. We believe that giving back is simply the right thing to do,” said Mark Lee, president of Baker Roofing Company. “We are strong supporters of Habitat’s mission to provide safe, affordable housing and are excited to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Wake County.”
Baker Roofing company donates time and leadership to Step Up Ministry in the hopes of helping Step Up continue to be Wake County’s premier resource for people seeking to improve their lives and develop stable careers. Various levels of leadership at Baker Roofing work with Step Up to mentor individuals as they progress through various levels of the Step Up program, for instance, the year long Life Skills program. Step Up participants in this program learn skills such as budgeting, goal-setting, credit restoration, managing emotions and relational development. The goal is stability in all aspects of life over the long term, and each adult participant is paired with a staff case manager and a volunteer from the community, who is called a “co-partner.” The purpose of a co-partner is to provide yet another arm of support to inspire lasting change in the participants’ lives.
