Since Raleigh is our featured city this go round, we wanted to get a restaurant recommendation from someone who is a true local as well as a foodie.
Dylan Baker is one of our Vice Presidents, and the great grandson of our founder W. P. Baker. He is a great example of our motto “Always Good Work” and undoubtedly one of the funniest people at our company. He agreed to do a review for us of one of his favorite Raleigh restaurants.
Drumroll please… Poole’s Diner! Poole’s has been a staple in Raleigh since it was first founded in 1945. The Baker family has been frequenting this establishment for decades. If you are looking for a comfort food that is out of this world Dylan recommends their famous mac n’ cheese! He said if you are looking for a dinner entree, you can’t go wrong with the grilled chicken and mashed potatoes. Poole’s chooses food that is local, so they often have tasty, seasonal options. Although their lunch and dinner options are fantastic, Dylan says that saving room for dessert is a must. Since Poole’s started out as a pie shop, their tried and true pie recipes will become your new favorite dessert. As a business that started here in Raleigh, we love to support local establishments. Poole’s is owned by chef Ashley Christensen. She also owns several other local Raleigh restaurants that we love!
