Clay Tile and Copper Roof Replacement | Historic University Building
The Reuben-Cooke Building is part of Duke University’s historic campus architecture, and its new roof needed to honor that legacy. Working with general contractor LeChase Construction Services, our steep-slope team removed the existing roof systems and flashings down to the deck. We installed new Ludowici clay tile in a custom color blend made to match Duke’s traditional tile, along with tile-style copper snow guards that help keep snow and ice from sliding off the roof. On the upper flat roofs, we installed 24 oz copper flat-lock roofing, where copper panels are folded and locked together at the seams. New 20 oz copper flashings and 24 oz copper gutters completed the system. The project was completed in October 2026.
On a campus where the rooflines are part of the identity, the details had to be right. Our crews self-performed every phase of the work, from tear-off to the last copper detail, so the new roof would look as though it had always belonged there. As a 100% employee-owned company, we stand behind that work for the life of the roof.
