Historic Roof Replacement & Preservation | Duke University Chapel
Beginning in May 2015, Baker Roofing Company undertook a complex historic preservation and roof replacement project at Duke Chapel, one of North Carolina’s most recognized and beloved landmarks. The year-long project required the kind of patience, precision, and respect for historic materials that only comes with deep experience in specialty steep slope work. When the chapel reopened its doors in May 2016, the roof had been fully restored to the standard this building deserves.
The project was featured in Roofing Magazine’s November/December 2016 issue, recognizing the complexity and craftsmanship involved. It is the kind of work we are proud to stand behind.

At Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, our team completed commercial roof repairs to restore the facility’s roofing system to full performance. Healthcare facilities operate around the clock, and a roof that is not performing is not an option when patient care depends on everything working the way it should.
We showed up, completed the work, and left the facility better protected than we found it. That is the standard we bring to every healthcare property we serve.

At this retail shopping center, our team investigated a recurring leak using systematic water testing to pinpoint the exact source. That investigation uncovered a 3×8-foot area of deteriorated membrane along with an additional puncture that previous repairs had missed. We completed full repairs using modified cap sheet and three-course methods, then verified the fix with additional water testing before leaving.
Recurring leaks require more than patches. They need thorough investigation, complete repairs of every contributing factor, and verification that the problem is truly solved.

At Wurth Industry in Roanoke, our team investigated roof damage and discovered cuts and tears caused by a loose metal wall panel that had fallen onto the roof surface. We repaired seven membrane punctures, replaced a damaged drain basket, and addressed every cut from the debris.
Then we located and secured the source of the damage to prevent it from happening again. A leak repair is not complete until you find what caused it in the first place. That is the kind of thorough, root-cause thinking our employee-owners bring to every job.

Commercial Roof Repair | Large-Format Retail Store
At a Macy’s location in Portland, our team removed and replaced 700 feet of failing termination sealant to restore proper waterproofing along critical roof edges. Retail operations depend on reliable roofs. Water infiltration through failing terminations can damage inventory, disrupt sales floors, and create costly emergency repairs during business hours.
Proactive sealant replacement on this scale prevents leaks before they happen. It protects both merchandise and customer experience while avoiding the disruption of an emergency service call. That kind of preventive thinking is what our employee-owners bring to every retail property we serve.

Modified Bitumen Roof Repair | University Campus Building
At the Leo Jenkins Building on a university campus, our team repaired 10 square feet of blistered modified bitumen membrane with new cap sheet and resealed failing terminations to restore watertight integrity. Even small areas of membrane damage can allow water infiltration that spreads beneath the surface, causing hidden deterioration that is far more expensive to fix later.
Educational facilities depend on reliable roofs to protect classrooms, research, and technology. Catching and repairing blisters and failing sealants early keeps learning environments safe and dry.
