Copper Dome Installation | Landmark Catholic Cathedral
At Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in West Raleigh, our crews fabricated and installed the full standing seam copper roof system, including every flashing, gutter, downspout, and coping detail across the structure. The most demanding piece of the job was the dome itself. Standing 88 feet tall and weighing close to 320,000 pounds, it could not be roofed in place, so our team clad it completely on the ground before it was lifted nearly 90 feet into the air and set atop the cathedral in a single lift lasting about an hour.
Selected by general contractor Clancy & Theys, we were honored to take on a landmark project in the city where our company began in 1915. Copper work like this is built to stand for generations, and every panel was shaped and installed by our own self-performing crews, a reflection of the same standard we have held for more than 110 years as a 100% employee-owned company.
