At the Keystone Science Center on NC State’s Centennial Campus, our team completed a one-day roof upfit to prepare for new rooftop equipment. We installed six rail curbs and flashed two new pipe penetrations, wrapping each curb in membrane and tying it into the existing roof with heat-welded target patches.
Research buildings depend on rooftop equipment to keep labs and offices running, and every new penetration is a potential leak point. A clean, watertight fit-up gives the next trade a solid base to build on while protecting the research spaces below.
